‘Anna’s Flower Farm’ Grow your own Cut Flowers.
This course follows the Flower Growing Year, taught over 5 sessions, learning and practically growing the plants yourselves both in our plots and taking home materials to grow on at home in your space. There is a maximum of 5 places per class for intimate and full attention.
You will see the plants from propagation right through to flowering and arranging.
For instance, in Early Autumn, observing the Dahlias growing and arranged, in Winter how they are lifted and stored, bought out and started in Spring, cuttings taken and planted out in early Summer through to flowering. Every technique necessary through the seasons is taught and practiced from propagation to planting, tying in, pinching out, cutting and conditioning flowers. You will have guidance in designing your own plot, be it a balcony or a couple of square metres through to an allotment.
The course is supported by a private Group to share progress and support your learning and growing over the year together with a folder of instructions and photos built up across the course for you to keep alongside your own planting plans for your plot, garden or allotment.
This really is the full course to learn how to confidently grow cut flowers.
Each sesson begins with refreshments on arrival and a tour of the growing plots, revisiting the Course Beds where participants grow all plants as well as take home for their own spaces. After a busy practical morning, we offer a delicious seasonal cooked lunch and pudding. Further practical sessions in the afternoon finished off with more tea and cake. See the Example Timetable for a full breakdown for the day.
This is a practical course and you will be doing all the above on the Flower Farm. Skills and techniques are repeated across the course to familiarise and we will refer each session to that before to review development of plants as the year progresses.
